Jakarta (ANTARA) - Wakil Menteri Komunikasi dan Digital (Wamenkomdigi) Nezar Patria has stated that artificial intelligence (AI) technology can be utilised to optimise the development of sustainable agricultural enterprises.

“The adoption of the latest technology, in this case artificial intelligence, is very critical and strategic to support agricultural growth in Indonesia and ensure its sustainability,” Nezar said in a ministry press statement confirmed on Sunday.

According to him, AI technology can be used to assist in regulating seed planting, detecting pests and plant diseases, maximising land productivity, and automating crop maintenance.

In addition, he continued, AI technology can be utilised to improve agricultural product distribution systems and conduct predictive analyses on food availability.

“AI works with data. And data is transferred through telecommunications networks. Therefore, telecommunications infrastructure becomes a prerequisite at the elementary level, at the fundamental level,” he said.

Therefore, Nezar stated that the government is committed to accelerating the development of telecommunications infrastructure across all regions, including the outermost, outermost, and underdeveloped areas (3T).

Even connectivity is expected to support efforts to develop economic enterprises that promote welfare in all regions.
