Deputy Minister of Basic and Secondary Education urges students to emulate RA Kartini with a spirit of learning
The spirit of equality must not stop at opening access to learning but should be followed by strengthening the quality of education. Majalengka (ANTARA) - Deputy Minister of Basic and Secondary Education (Wamendikdasmen) Fajar Riza Ul Haq urged students in Majalengka Regency, West Java, to emulate RA Kartini’s struggle through a spirit of learning and equality in education. “With Mother Kartini, we all share the same aspirations and rights to obtain knowledge,” said Wamendikdasmen Fajar in a statement received in Majalengka on Tuesday. Wamendikdasmen conveyed this invitation during a dialogue with students at the Academic Ability Test (TKA) event at SD Negeri Majalengka Wetan 4, which coincided with the commemoration of Kartini Day 2026. On that occasion, Wamendikdasmen Fajar engaged in dialogue and appreciated the students’ responses mentioning RA Kartini, Dewi Sartika, and Cut Nyak Dien as female figures who contributed greatly to the nation. “The spirit of equality must not stop at opening access to learning but should be followed by strengthening the quality of education,” stated Wamendikdasmen Fajar. He further explained that the TKA serves as an instrument to capture learning achievements while also improving education, particularly in strengthening literacy, numeracy, and critical thinking skills. On that basis, Wamendikdasmen reminded students to complete the assessment honestly and without haste, as it does not determine graduation. He also emphasised the government’s strong commitment to the education sector amid global dynamics. President Prabowo Subianto, he continued, has significant attention to education, manifested through strengthening the quality of teaching, improving facilities, and education services that are closer to the needs of learners. “Education must be present with increasingly better quality and services that are closer to the needs of our children,” said Wamendikdasmen Fajar.
