Mataram (ANTARA) - Deputy Minister of Basic and Secondary Education (Wamendikdasmen) Fajar Riza Ul Haq stated that the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme has received good appreciation from students in Nusa Tenggara Barat.

“From our discussions with the students, the majority enjoy their experience with the MBG service,” he told reporters after inspecting the Academic Ability Test (TKA) implementation, the use of Interactive Digital Boards (PID), and the MBG programme at SMPN 6 Mataram on Tuesday.

He said that if there are any complaints or issues with the MBG menu served, the school should report them to the Nutrition Fulfilment Service Unit (SPPG). However, from his supervision, SPPG is committed to improving the service.

“Alhamdulillah, there were no reports of poisoning from the MBG menu earlier, but the taste of the food, which is not very good, will be improved,” said Fajar Riza.

“MBG is important to fill the stomach so that students can focus better on learning,” he added.

Fajar Riza conveyed the same sentiment when he checked MBG at SMAK Kesuma Mataram. On average, students said they were pleased with the served menu.

“When I talked to the 10th-grade students, they said they enjoy the MBG dishes and there are no problems. They expressed their thanks,” explained Fajar Riza.

Furthermore, he emphasised that the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education will continue to monitor the MBG programme. This is because students greatly feel its impact, one of which is that this MBG culture can introduce a culture of healthy living, greater discipline, and ensuring children’s nutrition.

“The government continues to commit to supervising and improving the MBG programme to run well,” he said.
