Deputy Minister of Basic and Secondary Education: National Education Day a moment to strengthen the direction of education transformation
Education does not merely function as a transfer of knowledge, but also as a process of humanising humans, building character, and preparing generations capable of addressing the challenges of the times. Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Minister of Basic and Secondary Education (Wamendikdasmen) Fajar Riza Ul Haq stated that the commemoration of National Education Day (Hardiknas) serves as a momentum for reflection to strengthen the direction of national education transformation. “Education does not only function as a transfer of knowledge, but also as a process of humanising humans, building character, and preparing generations capable of addressing the challenges of the times,” said Wamendikdasmen Fajar in a written statement in Jakarta on Sunday. With the theme “Strengthening Universal Participation to Realise Quality Education for All”, he said this year’s Hardiknas commemoration emphasises the importance of involvement from all elements in delivering equitable and quality educational services. He added that this year’s Hardiknas commemoration becomes even more meaningful as it coincides with the 56th Earth Day and the 30th Regional Autonomy Day. In line with the mandate of the Minister of Basic and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen), Wamendikdasmen Fajar stated that education is a process of humanising humans that is not merely a transfer of knowledge, but also nurturing potential, building character, and honouring humans as dignified beings. Education, he continued, is expected to shape learners who are faithful, of noble character, intelligent, skilled, and ready to face the challenges of the times. Within the framework of the President’s AstaCita, he explained that education is directed towards building superior, resilient human resources with global competitiveness. On that occasion, Wamendikdasmen Fajar also emphasised that teachers are the main key in improving education quality. Therefore, enhancing teacher competencies and welfare continues to be a government priority. “Teachers are the centre of change. Investment in teachers is a long-term investment for the future of our education,” said Wamendikdasmen Fajar Riza Ul Haq.
