Deputy Minister: Investment Growth Must Align with Job Creation
Deputy Minister of Manpower Afriansyah Noor has stated that Indonesia’s investment growth must have a tangible impact on the creation of quality employment. He made the remarks during the inauguration of PT Givaudan Indonesia’s new production facility in the GIIC area, Cikarang, Bekasi, on Friday (3/7/2026).
According to Afriansyah, every new investment holds strategic significance for the government as it can broaden job opportunities for the public. Therefore, the government continues to encourage business growth to proceed in tandem with the increasing availability of quality jobs.
“Every new investment has strategic meaning for the government in efforts to expand employment opportunities. Our focus is to ensure that business growth is directly proportional to the availability of quality jobs for the Indonesian people,” Afriansyah stated.
He explained that PT Givaudan Indonesia’s new production facility serves as a monitoring point for the government to assess the extent to which investment contributes to expanding job opportunities. The government will continue to monitor the realisation of the company’s commitment to absorbing labour in line with the investment stages being carried out.
In the initial phase of the expansion, named Project Kartini, PT Givaudan Indonesia has absorbed 60 new workers. In the next development phase, the production facility is targeted to absorb approximately 400 workers.
Afriansyah emphasised that the government expects this labour absorption commitment to be realised gradually and measurably as the company’s investment progresses. He also noted that harmonious industrial relations are a key factor in maintaining investment sustainability while creating a conducive working environment for all parties.
The government continues to encourage all business actors to not only focus on business growth but also to provide broader benefits for workers and the communities surrounding the company’s operational areas. “The government continues to encourage every business entity, including PT Givaudan Indonesia, to uphold the principle that investment success must provide broad benefits, especially for the welfare of workers and the surrounding community,” he concluded.
