Deputy Minister Inspects Family Planning Services at Batu X Community Health Centre in Tanjungpinang

Tanjungpinang - Deputy Minister of Population and Family Development (Wamendukbangga)/Deputy Head of BKKBN Ratu Ayu Isyana Bagoes Oka inspected family planning (KB) services at Batu X Community Health Centre in Tanjungpinang City, Riau Islands Province (Kepri). Isyana observed the entire family planning service process provided to the public, from registration and counselling to the insertion of contraceptive devices such as IUDs and implants. ‘Family planning is one of our responsibilities to ensure that the public and KB acceptors receive the best services at the community health centres, particularly in Tanjungpinang,’ Isyana said after inspecting Batu X Community Health Centre on Monday, 25 May. Deputy Minister stated that her visit was part of direct monitoring of the quality of family planning services received by the public in the region. She aims to ensure all service processes run smoothly, from service flow, public education, counselling on selecting appropriate contraceptive methods, to implantation procedures in line with standard operating procedures. She also promoted the family planning programme using a life-cycle approach, from household planning to the importance of the first 1,000 days of life to prevent stunting in future generations. ‘The success of the national family planning programme begins with good local services, so services like those in Tanjungpinang must be continuously improved to ensure the public receives safe, comfortable, and quality care,’ she said. In addition to monitoring services, Isyana interacted directly with members of the public using free family planning services at Batu X Community Health Centre. She asked participants about the information they received regarding contraceptive choices. ‘How are you, madam? What contraceptive method are you choosing, and what information about family planning have you received here?’ she asked a participant in the family planning counselling room. Family planning participant Anita stated she received comprehensive explanations from healthcare staff before deciding on her contraceptive method. ‘I was told about implant, IUD, safety, effectiveness rates, and side effects of each contraceptive method. I chose the implant,’ she said.
