Deputy Minister Inspects Digital Learning Implementation in Tanjungpinang

Deputy Minister for Primary and Secondary Education (Wamendikdasmen) Atip Latipulhayat inspected the implementation of learning digitalisation through the use of Digital Interactive Boards (PID) at SMP Negeri 16 Tanjungpinang, Riau Islands Province (Kepri). “Learning digitalisation is part of the government’s programme to deliver a faster, more effective learning process that can improve students’ understanding,” he said during his visit to SMPN 16 Tanjungpinang on Friday. During the visit, he entered a classroom to observe the application of the PID firsthand. According to him, learning has now shifted from merely delivering material to providing a more tangible learning experience. Through the PID, students not only hear the teacher’s explanations but can also see visualisations of various learning concepts directly, making it easier to understand the material and relate it to everyday life. “In the past, teachers only explained. Now, learning has shifted from explanations to presence. Children do not just hear, but they also see, observe, and understand concepts more concretely,” he said. Thus, learning does not stop at memorisation but encourages conceptual understanding and critical thinking skills. Biology teacher at SMP Negeri 16 Tanjungpinang, Yolanda, said the use of the PID has brought significant changes to the learning process. She noted that material which was previously difficult to explain can now be visualised, making it easier for students to understand. She gave the example of studying the solar system, where students cannot observe planets directly. However, through the digital interactive board, they can explore space virtually. Similarly, in biology lessons about cells, which cannot be seen with the naked eye, three-dimensional visualisation allows objects to be rotated, enlarged, and observed from various angles, making abstract concepts more concrete. Furthermore, the use of digital learning media has increased students’ learning motivation. Even students who were usually passive in class are now more confident to come forward when the teacher gives quizzes via the interactive board. “This shows that interactive learning media can boost self-confidence while making them more enthusiastic about learning,” she said.
