Deputy Minister: Human resource development must be supported by healthy living culture
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Akhmad Wiyagus believes that human resource development is not only achieved through increased professionalism, but also by building a culture of healthy and fit living. Wiyagus made the statement after attending the Indonesian Navy Sports Week Exhibition at the Republic of Indonesia Fleet Command Headquarters in Jakarta on Tuesday. According to Wiyagus, this effort aligns with the government’s focus on building a healthy society as the foundation for producing superior human resources. “Health is the foundation of superior human resources. The government is also developing and building a healthy society from the central level down to the grassroots,” he said in a written statement. Wiyagus also appreciated the organisation of the Navy Sports Week, which he believes reflects the Indonesian Navy’s commitment to developing superior human resources. “This event is proof that the Navy, as the front line of Indonesia’s maritime resilience, has superior human resources,” he stated. In addition to improving the fitness of soldiers, Wiyagus continued, the spirit of promoting sports and healthy living demonstrated by the Navy is expected to inspire the public to adopt healthy lifestyles in their own environments. “What the Navy is doing can certainly be emulated and hopefully expanded to coastal communities and all Indonesian people,” he said.
