Deputy Minister for Migrant Worker Protection (P2MI), Dzulfikar Ahmad Tawalla, visited the residence of Indonesia’s seventh president, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), in Solo, Central Java. Dzulfikar said he received a number of inputs and suggestions from Jokowi.

Dzulfikar’s visit followed a working trip to Semarang and Solo. He took the opportunity to pause and share nostalgia with Jokowi.

“Mostly I was just nostalgic. Because when I was elected as Chairman of the Muhammadiyah Youth Central Board (Ketum PP Pemuda Muhammiyah), he attended our Muktamar. There were many there. Then others talked about how being a public official is not easy,” he said after meeting Jokowi in Sumber, Banjarsari, Solo, reported by detikJateng on Friday (6 March 2026).

Dzulfikar said there were many things discussed. He disclosed that he recounted his role as a public official to Jokowi.

“We must reach out to points—if visits to regional areas require energy. All the conversations today, my experience over a year as Deputy Minister. It is not easy because our energy must be full; meeting people must be 100 percent. And when going down to the regions, how to respond to the expectations of the people, friends, and activist colleagues,” he explained.

After recounting his experiences as Deputy Minister of P2MI to Jokowi, he received advice not to give up. He was also advised to continue meeting the public as a public official.

After meeting Jokowi, Dzulfikar said he would undertake visits to Yogyakarta and Magelang to inspect the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program and the Merah Putih Cooperative.

“I will continue to Jogja; this is to check MBG, and tomorrow to Magelang to check the Merah Putih Cooperative there,” he concluded.
