Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Minister of Basic and Secondary Education (Wamendikdasmen) Fajar Riza Ul Haq emphasised the importance of instilling discipline and strengthening student character in the school environment following the long holidays for Eid al-Fitr and Nyepi Day. This was conveyed by Deputy Minister Fajar during his role as the ceremony instructor at Taman Siswa Bogor, West Java, on Monday, where he read out a message from the Minister of Basic and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen) Abdul Mu’ti. “Our presence here is a message that the government is present for all. Both public and private schools have important roles and must continue to be supported,” said Wamendikdasmen Fajar, quoted in Jakarta. In the message he delivered, the government is pushing for the strengthening of face-to-face learning, character formation, and the habituation of positive habits as the foundation for a healthy and competitive generation. Additionally, he stated that the implementation of routine flag ceremonies is also emphasised as part of efforts to strengthen nationalism among students. “Currently, the development of integrated schools is also a directive from President Prabowo to strengthen the continuity of learning and character building from an early age. The scheme is being prepared by the government, and practices like those at Taman Siswa serve as an important reference,” he said. After the ceremony, Deputy Minister Fajar greeted and directly dialogued with students from various levels. In the dialogue, students conveyed the benefits of the Free Nutritious Meals Programme (MBG) that they have experienced. Some students also hoped that the MBG Programme could continue because it is seen as having a positive impact on health and learning motivation. In addition, the students admitted to feeling the benefits from the School Revitalisation Programme, which makes learning spaces more comfortable and supportive of the learning process.
