Deputy Minister of Manpower (Wamenaker) Afriansyah Noor has emphasised the importance of strengthening occupational safety and health (K3) in the stevedoring sector, noting that worker protection aspects must not be overlooked. “Social security protection, the provision of adequate personal protective equipment, and the implementation of a K3 culture must be a non-negotiable top priority,” said Afriansyah. In addition to strengthening K3, the Deputy Minister also highlighted the importance of digital transformation in the management of port services to create a modern, transparent, and equitable cooperative governance system. He noted the launch of a digital system by the Indonesian Stevedoring Cooperative Union (Inkop TKBM) Pelabuhan. “The digital system at Inkop TKBM makes all work processes, such as worker data and finances, faster, more transparent, and easier to monitor by members and administrators,” he said. He assessed that this transformation brings direct benefits to more than 86,000 port workers spread across 120 primary cooperatives throughout Indonesia. Chairman of Inkop TKBM Pelabuhan, HM Nasir, stated that this digitalisation programme is an ongoing commitment that will be implemented across the entire TKBM cooperative network in Indonesia within the next year. “We continue to encourage the transformation of cooperatives through improving the quality of human resources, digitalising services, supervision, and developing productive businesses according to the needs of each region,” said HM Nasir.
