Jayapura (ANTARA) - Deputy Minister for Population and Family Development and Deputy Head of the National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN), Ratu Ayu Isyana Bagoes Oka, has called for the Gerakan Orang Tua Asuh Stunting (Genting) programme to be expanded to reach disadvantaged, frontier, and outermost (3T) regions in Papua. Speaking after the launch of Genting in Jayapura, Papua, on Friday, she stated that the programme must be continuously broadened so that more children and families at risk of stunting, including those in Papua’s 3T areas, receive assistance and intervention. Isyana emphasised that stunting prevention cannot be carried out by the government alone, but requires collaboration from all elements of society, including state-owned enterprises (BUMN), regional-owned enterprises (BUMD), the business sector, academics, and the community. She added that through Genting, all parties are invited to become foster parents for children at risk of stunting, because saving one child means saving a generation for the vision of a Golden Indonesia 2045. She also expressed appreciation for BRI’s support in the stunting prevention foster parent programme, noting that the contribution strengthens efforts to accelerate stunting reduction in Papua. BRI has provided assistance to 50 at-risk families over three months and has also built three healthy latrines as part of efforts to improve sanitation for target families in Papua. The Deputy Minister expressed hope that other state-owned and regional-owned enterprises would follow suit, so that the foster parent programme could reach a wider coverage, including the 3T regions in Papua. She stressed that her office would continue to build collaboration with BUMN, BUMD, and relevant agencies to help reduce stunting rates in Papua, as the task cannot be accomplished alone and requires cooperation from all parties in reducing and preventing stunting in Papua Province.
