Deputy Minister: B50 Biodiesel Programme to Accelerate National Energy Self-Sufficiency

Deputy Minister of Agriculture Sudaryono stated that the implementation of the B50 biodiesel programme is a government effort to accelerate the realisation of energy self-sufficiency as part of President Prabowo Subianto’s vision to build national energy independence through domestic resources. “The President wants everything to achieve the best fast result. The programme is large, executed quickly, and delivers a tangible impact. The potential for food self-sufficiency must be turned into reality. The potential for energy self-sufficiency must also be turned into reality,” the Deputy Minister said in a statement in Jakarta on Monday. He conveyed that the B50 biodiesel programme and Indonesia’s success in achieving food self-sufficiency are concrete examples of the implementation of President Prabowo’s grand vision, executed through a best fast result (BFR) approach. According to Sudaryono, the President has a grand vision to bring Indonesia to become a self-reliant nation by utilising all its potential, from natural resources and agricultural land to national energy. Through this policy, Indonesia will no longer depend on diesel imports because half of its biodiesel needs will be met by domestically produced palm oil. “This shows that an agrarian country like Indonesia is capable of utilising its natural wealth and the hard work of its farmers to achieve energy self-sufficiency,” Sudaryono said. The Deputy Minister explained that the best fast result concept is the President’s primary approach in executing various strategic national programmes. He said the government does not want to let the nation’s various potentials remain mere discourse but must be realised immediately through quick, measurable steps that have a direct impact on the community. “If the programme is large but takes too long to execute, the benefits will also be felt late. Therefore, the President always encourages every policy to be executed quickly with the best results so that the benefits can be immediately felt by the public,” Sudaryono explained.
