Deputy Minister ATR/BPN Criticises Queue Issues, Warns 'One Bad Land Office Tarnishes All'
Deputy Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Deputy Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN), Ossy Dermawan, has called for all land offices to improve service quality by preventing queue build-ups at counters. According to him, citizens require prompt, accurate, and legally compliant land services. The remarks were made during his inspection of the Weekend Land Service (PELATARAN) at the Banjarbaru City Land Office in South Kalimantan on Saturday, 30 May 2026. ‘We must avoid lengthy waits at counters, such as queue build-ups. Managers must have contingency plans if queues form,’ Ossy said. During the visit, Ossy inspected service areas to ensure smooth operations for citizens. He stressed that land services should not only be fast but also precise, meticulous, and in line with regulations. Beyond counter services, Ossy noted that the ATR/BPN Ministry has been accelerating land document processing since the fourth quarter of 2025. Efforts are being implemented across regional offices and regularly monitored by Minister ATR/Head of BPN Nusron Wahid through periodic leadership meetings. He added that the acceleration measures are showing positive results in several regions, with improving document clearance trends. ‘Since October 2025, we’ve pushed to clear backlogs and have managed to reduce them. Currently, we continue processing existing documents carefully and accurately, knowing that if one land office is poor, all are deemed poor. Thus, we strive to perform well,’ Ossy stated. However, he emphasised that land service improvements must not stop. All levels, from central to regional offices, must continuously refine services to enhance quality. Ossy also noted that public service quality isn’t just measured by processing speed but also by the attitude of officials towards citizens. During the event, Ossy personally handed over two certificates to Banjarbaru residents who used the PELATARAN service on Saturday morning. The PELATARAN programme provides weekend land services to accommodate citizens unable to handle land-related matters during weekdays.
