Deputy Minister Appreciates Papua Province's Free Medical Treatment and Blood Donation Drive
Deputy Minister of Home Affairs (Wamendagri) Akhmad Wiyagus has expressed his appreciation for the Papua Provincial Government’s initiative in holding a free medical treatment and blood donation social activity. The statement was made during the Regional Government Achievement Appreciation event for the Papua Region at the Sasana Krida Building, Governor’s Office of Papua, Jayapura City, on Monday (22/6).
In his remarks, Wiyagus assessed that such social activities represent a step by the regional government to improve access to healthcare services while simultaneously strengthening humanitarian values and social solidarity. “We from the Ministry of Home Affairs give the highest appreciation to the Papua Provincial Government for facilitating this activity,” Wiyagus stated.
He continued that human resource development is a national development agenda. Therefore, efforts to improve the quality of public health need to be reinforced through various beneficial programmes and activities. According to him, the free medical treatment activity is capable of opening up access to health services, enabling early detection of various diseases, and serving as a manifestation of the government’s social concern for the community.
“We know that health is the foundation that determines the success of development in governance, both at the provincial and district/city levels,” he said. On this occasion, he also stressed the importance of blood donation as a humanitarian contribution of great benefit. He noted that activities involving donor participation support the availability of blood stocks in hospitals. “We know that a single drop of blood is very meaningful for someone’s life,” he concluded.
Finally, Wiyagus conveyed his appreciation to the medical personnel, health workers, and all parties involved. He also expressed gratitude to the community members who utilised the free medical treatment services and to the blood donors who participated.
