Deputy Manpower Minister Afriansyah Noor has stressed that every new investment must have a concrete impact on creating quality jobs for the community. “Every new investment holds strategic meaning for the government in terms of expanding employment opportunities,” he said in a statement in Jakarta on Saturday (4/7/2026). As an example, Afriansyah highlighted the new production facility owned by PT Givaudan Indonesia in Cikarang, West Java, as one of the investment projects being monitored by the government for its impact on job creation. In the initial phase of the expansion, called Project Kartini, the company has absorbed 60 new workers, with a target of increasing absorption to around 400 people in the next phase. “We, the government, emphasise that this commitment to absorbing labour must continue in a measurable way in the subsequent investment phases,” he said. Beyond job creation, the government also urged PT Givaudan Indonesia to consistently fulfil its operational obligations in accordance with prevailing labour standards. This includes implementing a fair wage system, fulfilling workers’ normative rights, and strengthening bipartite communication with the SPKEP SPSI union at PT Givaudan Indonesia to maintain harmonious industrial relations. “The government continues to encourage every business entity, including PT Givaudan Indonesia, to uphold the principle that investment success must provide broad benefits, especially for the welfare of workers and the surrounding community,” Afriansyah asserted.
