Deputy Manpower Minister: Clear Competency Standards Support Workforce Development
Jakarta (ANTARA) – Deputy Manpower Minister Afriansyah Noor said clear competency standards and official certification can support the sustainable development of human resources.
“Competence and official certification are key to ensuring workers are not only technically proficient, but also ethical, safe and globally competitive,” Afriansyah said in a statement in Jakarta on Thursday.
He added that training should be tailored to industry needs so workers’ skills remain relevant to changes in the world of work.
Afriansyah said improving competence requires the involvement of the government, industry players and training institutions. Dialogue with industry, competency mapping and practical training can help align workers’ skills with industry requirements.
He also stressed the importance of equal partnerships and measuring outcomes to ensure competency development supports productivity, expands employment opportunities and improves workers’ welfare.
“Let us build this industry together through open dialogue, equal partnerships and a shared commitment to improving the welfare of our workers,” Afriansyah said.
The deputy minister also highlighted the importance of competency standards and professional certification in improving the quality of workers in the permanent make-up sector.
According to Afriansyah, permanent make-up workers need technical skills as well as an understanding of professional ethics, working standards and customer safety. This combination is important for maintaining service quality and building customer trust.
The Permanent Make Up Indonesia Festival 2026 is being held until 23 October 2026 at Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) 2. The international event has drawn 700 participants: 400 from Indonesia and 300 foreign nationals.
