Deputy Jakarta Police Chief: Hundreds of Thousands of Basic Necessities to be Distributed During May Day at Monas

Deputy Jakarta Police Chief Brigadier General Pol Dekananto Eko Purwono stated that hundreds of thousands of basic necessities will be distributed by a joint team to action participants at the International Labour Day commemoration, or May Day, centred in the Monas area, Central Jakarta, on Friday (1/5).
“There are 300,000 to 400,000 basic necessities packages to be distributed, so strategic steps are needed to ensure this distribution runs smoothly for all participants,” Eko said during the Labour Day Security Roll Call at Monas, Jakarta, on Thursday.
He urged the joint personnel distributing the logistics to carry out their duties properly and orderly, from storage to distribution.
“Implement shift arrangements to ensure the needs of members are still met during task execution,” he said.
He stated that the security points for basic necessities distribution are crucial and vital, thus requiring adequate security.
“Each basic necessities distribution point will be guarded by 2,000 joint TNI and Polri personnel,” he said.
He emphasised that public safety is the top priority, for action participants, surrounding communities, and all personnel on duty.
“We hope the entire May Day 2026 series of activities can run safely, orderly, and conducive,” he said.
Previously, the Head of Public Relations of Jakarta Police Kombes Pol Budi Hermanto mentioned that 24,980 joint personnel will ensure the success and escort the implementation of May Day Fiesta 2026 or the International Labour Day commemoration centred in the Monas area, Jakarta.
“Jakarta Police together with TNI, local government, security guards, and related parties are preparing 24,980 personnel to ensure the 2026 May Day activities can run safely, orderly, smoothly, humanely, and conducive,” said Kombes Pol Budi Hermanto after the Security Roll Call in the Monas area, Jakarta, on Thursday.
Meanwhile, the Director of Traffic of Jakarta Police Kombes Pol Komarudin stated that the total number of workers participating in the International Labour Day implementation in the Monas area will reach 200,000 people, and it is estimated that there will be 4,000 bus units entering Jakarta for tomorrow’s labour day commemoration.
“Based on the latest data we received, more than 200,000 workers will come to Monas, and there are several groups that may carry out activities at several points in Jakarta,” he said.
