Deputy Investment Minister Visits BP Batam to Accelerate Investment Growth
Deputy Head of BP Batam, Li Claudia Chandra, received a working visit from Deputy Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Deputy Head of BKPM, Todotua Pasaribu, at BP Batam. Todotua and his entourage were welcomed by Li Claudia and her staff on Tuesday (29/4/2025) afternoon at the BP Batam Marketing Centre.
In his remarks, Todotua said the purpose of his visit was to advance consolidation and strengthen communication regarding strategic measures to accelerate investment growth in Batam City. He also noted that the investment realisation target set by the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/BKPM for 2025 is Rp 1,900 trillion, of which Rp 465 trillion had been realised in the first quarter.
"One of the strategies we are pursuing to achieve the 2025 investment growth realisation target is through strengthening designated zones, including industrial zones, Special Economic Zones (KEK), and Free Trade Zones (FTZ)," said Todotua.
He also highlighted global economic dynamics, namely the trade tariff war between the United States and China as a consequence of reciprocal tariff implementation. "In the face of these challenges, we must look at the potential and opportunities that arise. We have decided that in the near future we will finalise the implementation of a task force between the Ministry of Investment and BP Batam," Todotua explained.
Furthermore, to facilitate coordination and consolidation, the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/BKPM will reinstate a service desk at BP Batam's One-Stop Integrated Service Centre (PTSP), as a progressive step to expedite licensing and communication with relevant ministries and institutions.
"We want the process to be tactical, as investment obstacles encompass licensing, the business climate, and competitiveness. The task force and service desk are expected to accelerate the resolution of investment barriers in Batam City," Todotua concluded.
BP Batam welcomed the strategic measures and expressed its readiness to collaborate and provide full support to minimise investment barriers and maximise economic growth opportunities for the people of Batam City.
"We welcome the presence of the task force and the Ministry of Investment desk at BP Batam. This is a strategic step that demonstrates our shared commitment to creating a more welcoming and competitive investment climate," she said.
