Deputy Investment Minister Visits Batam to Accelerate Strategic Investment Growth
Efforts to accelerate the pace of national investment have entered a new chapter. Deputy Minister of Investment and Downstream Industries/Deputy Head of BKPM, Todotua Pasaribu, conducted a working visit to BP Batam on Tuesday (29/4/2025) to drive the acceleration of strategic investment growth in Batam City.
The visit was welcomed directly by Deputy Head of BP Batam, Li Claudia Chandra, together with officials at the BP Batam Marketing Centre.
In his remarks, Todotua conveyed that Batam plays a vital role in pursuing the national investment target of Rp1,900 trillion in 2025. First-quarter achievement this year has already reached Rp465 trillion.
"We are here to strengthen strategic coordination. One of our key efforts is to strengthen industrial zones, Special Economic Zones (KEK), and Free Trade Zones (FTZ)," said Todotua.
He also highlighted global challenges, such as the tariff war between the United States and China resulting from reciprocal tariff policies, which could in fact present opportunities for Indonesia — particularly Batam — to attract investors currently diversifying their regional presence.
In a concrete step, the Ministry of Investment will establish a joint task force with BP Batam to resolve investment obstacles and expedite licensing. Furthermore, the ministry will once again station a dedicated service desk at BP Batam's One-Stop Integrated Service Centre (PTSP) as a direct bridge to central ministries and institutions.
