Deputy Interior Minister (Wamendagri) Akhmad Wiyagus has emphasised the importance of strengthening synergy between the central and regional governments in promoting Lampung Province as one of the drivers of the national economy. This is because Lampung Province has considerable potential to drive the national economy.

Wiyagus stated that from the perspective of the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri), Lampung Province holds a strategic position in supporting national development, not merely as an administrative region. He conveyed this during the Lampung Post Executive Forum in Bandar Lampung City on Tuesday (14/4/2026).

“Lampung Province is not just an administrative region but an important part of the national development nexus,” said Wiyagus in a written statement on Wednesday (15/4/2026).

He added that this role is reflected in Lampung’s contribution to supporting national food needs, including supplies to the Jakarta region. According to him, this potential needs to be managed optimally so that it not only contributes on a national scale but also delivers tangible impacts for improving community welfare in the region.

On the other hand, Wiyagus assessed that Lampung’s economic growth trends in recent years have shown positive developments. However, he reminded that strengthening the regional economy must run in line with national policy directions.

“This strong development must start from alignment of directions; it must not differ,” he stated.

He explained that regional development is part of the orchestration of national development that is interconnected. In this context, regional resilience becomes an important foundation that will strengthen overall national resilience.

To support this, Wiyagus emphasised the importance of improving the quality of human resources (HR). According to him, the vast natural resource potential will not provide optimal added value without being supported by competent and innovative HR, including in driving the downstreaming of the region’s flagship commodities.

Besides economic aspects, he also reminded the importance of maintaining integrity in regional government administration. This is considered crucial for creating a healthy and sustainable development climate, while avoiding potential legal issues that could hinder development progress.

Finally, Wiyagus invited all stakeholders to continue strengthening synergy and active collaboration between the central and regional governments as the key to accelerating development.

“I invite everyone to strengthen synergy between the centre and the regions actively, not waiting for each other, but utilising the existing support,” he concluded.
