Deputy Interior Minister Wiyagus Reveals Launch of Anti-Corruption Guide as Momentum to Strengthen Legal and Bureaucratic Reforms
Jakarta, VIVA – Deputy Minister of Home Affairs (Wamendagri) Akhmad Wiyagus has expressed appreciation for the launch of guidelines and teaching materials for anti-corruption education at the Sasana Bhakti Praja Building (SBP) of the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri), Jakarta, on Monday (11/5/2026). According to Wiyagus, this momentum represents a tangible manifestation of the government’s and relevant parties’ commitment to realising the seventh point of Asta Cita, namely strengthening legal reforms, bureaucracy, and the eradication of corruption.
“This activity is a follow-up to the joint commitment for organising anti-corruption education that has been signed by the KPK leadership, the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, the Minister of Basic and Secondary Education, the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, the Minister of Religious Affairs, the Minister of Home Affairs, and the Minister of National Development Planning in April 2025,” he stated.
Wiyagus emphasised that during 2025 to 2026, several hand-catch operation cases occurred in the regions. This situation should serve as an alarm for all parties that law enforcement aspects alone are insufficient; instead, collaboration and preventive measures are needed to eradicate corrupt practices.
According to Wiyagus, preventing corrupt actions must be positioned as the foundation for shaping a young generation that is characterful and creative. This step is important as a strategy in creating communal immunity against behaviours that lead to corruption.
“And we must instil values of honesty, responsibility, and discipline from an early age, particularly from early childhood education and primary school, because it is at this age that character is formed and developed,” he said.
In line with that, Wiyagus conveyed that the KPK is currently conducting the 2026 Integrity Assessment Survey (SPI). For this reason, Wiyagus invited local governments (Pemda) to synergise in succeeding this activity. On the same occasion, Wiyagus also delivered several messages from the Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Muhammad Tito Karnavian to the Pemda ranks.
Pemda is encouraged to immediately prepare regulations related to support for the implementation of anti-corruption education involving universities and incorporating the available anti-corruption education teaching materials. In addition, Pemda is urged to integrate anti-corruption education into school curricula, both intra-curricularly and extra-curricularly.
Furthermore, Pemda is requested to report the results of the anti-corruption education implementation that has been carried out through the KPK’s platform. Additionally, Pemda needs to strengthen the role of regional inspectorates to monitor and evaluate the implementation of anti-corruption education by educational units.
