Deputy Interior Minister Wiyagus Praises Firefighters, Satpol PP, and Linmas for Maintaining Regional Stability

He stated that amid global dynamics such as climate change, geopolitical tensions, urbanisation, and technological disruptions, the government plays a role in ensuring security, public order, and societal protection. “All of this directly impacts people’s lives and demands that we maintain domestic stability so that social and economic activities continue to run smoothly,” said Wiyagus in a written statement on Thursday (30/4/2026). He conveyed this while attending the Gala Dinner for the 107th Anniversary of Damkar and Rescue, the 76th Anniversary of Satpol PP, and the 64th Anniversary of Linmas at the Jakabaring Dining Hall in Palembang, South Sumatra, on Wednesday (29/4/2026). Wiyagus explained that this role must be carried out through strengthening preventive aspects and enhancing human resource capacity. This also requires readiness to face various potential disruptions to public peace and safety. On this occasion, he also appreciated the performance of Damkar and Rescue, which throughout 2025 handled 20,931 fire incidents and carried out 122,071 rescue operations. This achievement is seen as concrete evidence of the state’s presence among the people. “This is quite proud because the level of public trust in the Fire and Rescue Service is truly very high,” he said. On the other hand, he also highlighted the role of Satpol PP and Linmas as the forefront in enforcing regional regulations and maintaining public order in society. According to him, the presence of both institutions contributes to creating a sense of security and comfort in daily community activities. “Sustainable development does not only talk about infrastructure and economic growth, but also about creating public order, societal peace, and comprehensive protection for all citizens,” he stressed. Wiyagus added that synergy among institutions, including down to the village level, is key to creating regional stability. This aligns with President Prabowo Subianto’s directives to strengthen collaboration in maintaining security and order to support the realisation of the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision.
