Deputy Interior Minister Warns Regional Heads: Authority Without Integrity Can Lead to Sting Operations!

Jakarta – Deputy Interior Minister Bima Arya has reminded regional heads to carry out their authority and power with full integrity. He stated that if not executed with integrity, it would breed arbitrariness that leads to legal action. This was conveyed by Bima Arya during the ceremony commemorating the 30th anniversary of Regional Autonomy in 2026 at the Ministry of Home Affairs office in Central Jakarta on Monday, 27 April 2026. “Authority without capability is mere wishful thinking. Authority without integrity only breeds arbitrariness and sting operations (OTT),” said Bima Arya. He explained that authority is the spirit of regional autonomy granted by the central government to the regions. Bima Arya reminded that regional autonomy is also the government’s responsibility in providing good public services that can be felt by the entire community. On that occasion, Bima Arya recalled the message from Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto regarding effective and efficient governance. He explained that efficiency is not merely about budget savings. Efficiency, he said, is a new way to manage government. “Efficiency is not just savings. Efficiency is not just numbers reported to superiors. Efficiency is a new way to manage government, a transformation of our work culture,” he stated.
