Deputy Interior Minister Bima Arya Sugiarto has urged Indonesian youth to enhance their capabilities in preparation for Indonesia’s Golden 2045 vision.

“Currently, we are experiencing a demographic dividend—where the working-age population exceeds the elderly and children. However, this dividend is not permanent,” Bima stated in a press release issued in Jakarta on Sunday.

He delivered the keynote speech at the Fourth Congress of the Free Student Political Bloc at the National Narcotics Board’s (BNN) Centre for Human Resource Development (PPSDM) in Bogor Regency, West Java, on Saturday (30 May).

His call comes amid optimism from international organisations positioning Indonesia as one of the world’s largest potential economic powers in the future.

He emphasised that high-quality human resources are crucial for driving national economic development and growth.

Bima further stressed that the youth’s quality is not only determined by individual abilities but also by their concern for societal issues. Therefore, young people must become active, socially aware individuals capable of delivering solutions through cross-sector collaboration.

“Remember my words: the future belongs to those skilled in networking and collaboration,” he said.

He added that the youth must adapt to global developments while maintaining national spirit.

Bima also reminded the importance of seizing every opportunity for self-development, as success depends not just on one’s abilities but also on the willingness to keep learning, acting, and capitalising on available opportunities.

“All great leaders excel at seizing opportunities. Politicians, scientists, entrepreneurs—they all understand the importance of timing,” he concluded.
