Deputy Interior Minister urges South Kalimantan to accelerate SPPG certification for optimal MBG implementation
Banjarbaru (ANTARA) - Deputy Interior Minister (Wamendagri) Akhmad Wiyagus has urged the South Kalimantan Provincial Government to accelerate the certification process for Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG) to support the optimal implementation of the Free Nutritious Meals Programme (MBG) in the region.
“The existence of SPPG is a crucial element in ensuring that nutrition fulfilment services operate according to the standards set by the government,” Wiyagus stated virtually during the 2026 Musrenbang event for compiling the 2027 Regional Development Work Plan (RKPD) for South Kalimantan Province, in Banjarbaru on Tuesday.
He noted that out of the total planned 386 SPPG units in South Kalimantan, only 282 units are currently operational and providing services to the community.
“Of that number, only 124 units have obtained the Hygiene and Sanitation Worthiness Certificate (SLHS), which is the primary requirement to guarantee food safety,” he said.
Nevertheless, he added, this certification is not merely administrative but also serves as an assurance that the food provided is safe and fit for consumption by the public, especially children.
Therefore, he requested that the local government enhance coordination with relevant agencies to speed up the verification and issuance of certificates.
In addition, oversight of SPPG operations must be intensified to maintain the quality of services.
