Deputy Interior Minister Urges East Java Provincial Government to Strengthen Development Synchronisation
Deputy Interior Minister (Wamendagri) Ribka Haluk has urged the East Java Provincial Government to strengthen the synchronisation of development planning between the provincial, regency, and city levels. This effort is deemed essential to promote balanced economic growth across all regions.
Ribka emphasised that the governor’s role is highly strategic in maintaining regional development stability. This aligns with the mandate of Law No. 23 of 2014, which positions the governor as the central government’s representative in the region.
“If the province experiences growth and fairly rapid progress but it is not matched by the regencies or cities, this is also very concerning,” Ribka stated at the Deliberation on Regional Development Planning (Musrembang) for the East Java Provincial Government’s Work Plan (RKPD) for 2027, held at the Shangri-La Hotel in Surabaya, East Java, on Tuesday (14/4).
On that occasion, Ribka also appreciated the solidarity among the provincial, regency, and city governments in East Java. She hopes that this synergy can produce development that directly impacts the community.
In addition, Ribka highlighted the improvement in East Java’s Human Development Index (IPM), which shows a positive trend. However, she stressed that these achievements should be felt evenly across all areas.
“If we talk about the Golden Indonesia, one of them is how we want to have a demographic bonus. I think East Java already has it. We just need to wait for the demographic bonus for other provinces,” she added.
In line with the slogan “Jatim Gerbang Baru Nusantara,” Ribka hopes that East Java’s role can become a region with new economic potential, especially for eastern Indonesia.
To that end, it is important for the East Java Provincial Government apparatus to refine development planning so that this mission can be carried out well.
“For East Java, we need to pay attention only to the unemployment rate. Meanwhile, economic growth, IPM, and others are already very good, even national programmes are being followed well,” Ribka asserted.
