Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Interior Minister (Wamendagri) Ribka Haluk has emphasised the importance of accelerating the development of the Papua Pegunungan Provincial Government Centre area through strengthened coordination across ministries and local governments (pemda). She urged local governments to comprehensively understand the technical guidance provided by the Ministry of Public Works (PU), particularly on several crucial aspects. “First, regarding timelines. Second, related to the master plan. Third, if there are any changes. These must be carefully considered as truly critical points,” Ribka stated in Jakarta on Saturday. This was conveyed during a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Public Works (PU) to discuss the progress of the Papua Pegunungan Provincial Government Centre development. Ribka stressed the importance of aligning local government steps with the policies and stages set by the Ministry of PU. She also reminded that all processes must proceed in accordance with applicable regulations and mechanisms. “So, please, Mr. Head of Department, technically follow the stages requested by the Deputy PU Minister very carefully,” she said. She also highlighted the importance of accelerating agreements on the locations for several strategic government buildings in Papua Pegunungan, particularly the offices of the Majelis Rakyat Papua (MRP) and Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat Papua (DPRP). According to her, location certainty is a crucial step to ensure that development stages can proceed on time and in line with applicable planning and budgeting mechanisms. “Mr. Secretary General and Mr. Governor can take responsibility for agreeing on the coordinates for the MRP office and DPR office (Papua Pegunungan) development,” Ribka stated. Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of PU Diana Kusumastuti stated that the architectural design concept for the Papua Pegunungan government office area has been completed in December 2025. Next, strengthened coordination across ministries/institutions is needed, including with the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Finance, to ensure alignment in planning and budgeting. “We start with the strategic area infrastructure planning document that refers to the results of yesterday’s coordination meeting visit, which is followed up by the Directorate General of Cipta Karya and of course together with the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Provincial Government,” Diana said.
