Deputy Interior Minister Emphasises Central-Local Synchronisation for Java's North Coast PSN
The emphasis was delivered at the Kick Off Meeting for Integrated Coastal Protection, Development, and Management Infrastructure along Java’s North Coast at the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries in Jakarta. In the forum, Ribka emphasised that regulatory and planning synchronisation would strengthen the effectiveness of implementing the national strategic programme in the regions.
In that context, the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) plays a role in overseeing regulatory readiness while facilitating local governments (Pemda) whose territories are traversed by the programme. This step is to ensure that central and local policies run in harmony and effectively.
“The strategic role of the Ministry of Home Affairs in this regard is to oversee and facilitate all local governments, especially those traversed by this national strategic programme,” said Ribka, in a written statement on Monday (4/5/2026).
Ribka explained that active involvement of local governments from provincial, regency/city, to village levels is a key factor in the programme’s success, as also emphasised by relevant ministries and agencies.
Furthermore, Ribka underscored the importance of aligning regional planning documents with national policy directions, particularly through the synchronisation of Regional Spatial Planning Plans (RTRW) and Regional Medium-Term Development Plans (RPJMD).
“The Minister of Home Affairs greatly hopes for synchronisation, especially in the preparation of regional RTRW and also related to its RPJMD,” said Ribka.
As a follow-up, Kemendagri will continue to encourage local governments to ensure that the Java North Coast coastal development programme can proceed strategically, directionally, and in accordance with the targets set by the central government.
