“We will use this momentum to build a more effective work culture transformation. So, perhaps there is still significant room for further efficiency,” explained Bima Arya at the Bekasi Mayor’s Office on Friday (10/4/2026). “Things that do not need to be regulated, just leave them. Now, many private corporations are already operating on a work-from-anywhere (WFA) model, rarely going to the office, and the system is running smoothly. Perhaps that’s the way,” he continued. Bima stated that this policy is not merely an adjustment to geopolitical factors but also aims to build foundational transformation. “But note that it must be continuously evaluated. Every month, we will certainly evaluate it. From one aspect, how efficient it is, how much savings it generates, and secondly, whether the output is disrupted or not,” he added. Bima Arya conveyed that the implementation of WFH is not impossible to be made permanent. However, the central government will continue to evaluate its application. “We’ll see the evaluation first. We can’t preempt it. After all, public services must not be disrupted. We have targets. If those are not disrupted, it’s not impossible that it will then be made permanent and institutionalised. But we’ll see the evaluation first,” said Bima Arya. Bima Arya has requested that local governments routinely provide monthly reports to the Interior Ministry on the results of WFH implementation. Subsequently, he said, the Interior Ministry will also conduct checks every Friday to directly assess the on-the-ground conditions of WFH application. “At the very least, regional heads are asked to evaluate it every month. Every Friday, we will definitely check and go down to the regions. But every month, officially, the regional heads will report to the Minister of Interior,” stated Bima Arya. “Then, the Minister of Interior will carry out a total recapitulation. So, over one month of full WFH implementation, how much total savings and what the impact on performance is like,” he added.
