Profound appreciation is extended to the fire services, civil service police, and community protection units for their long-standing dedication and tangible roles in managing thousands of fire emergencies, rescue operations, and disaster responses to safeguard public security,” stated Wiyagus on Thursday (30 April 2026).
This was conveyed during the Ceremony Commemorating the 107th Anniversary of Fire Services and Rescue; 76th Anniversary of Civil Service Police; and 64th Anniversary of Community Protection Units in 2026 at Jakabaring Sport City, Palembang, South Sumatra, earlier that morning. Wiyagus represented Interior Minister Tito Karnavian.
He stated that the Interior Ministry acts as the general and technical supervisor to ensure the smooth implementation of public order, general discipline, and community protection (trantibumlinmas), thereby guaranteeing the state’s presence in protecting citizens through strengthened preventive measures and the provision of adequate facilities and infrastructure for local apparatus. He added that the government will continue to pay attention to fire services, civil service police, and community protection units.
“The Interior Ministry is committed to enhancing the professionalism and welfare of fire services, civil service police, and community protection apparatus through human resource capacity development, ongoing certifications, and allocation of regional budgets for high-risk allowances to ensure optimal public services,” he said.
He also mandated that local governments promptly establish independent fire service institutions and strengthen the development of volunteer firefighters (REDKAR) to optimise budget management and achieve response time targets in line with Minimum Service Standards.
“Emphasis is placed on attention to the management of fire services, civil service police, and community protection units through the formation of independent agencies, regulatory updates, optimisation of basic services (SPM), and strengthening of human resource capacity,” he added.
During the ceremony, the Interior Ministry also presented awards for the National Firefighter Skill Competition champions and honours to the Mayor of Palembang.
The previous day, on Wednesday (29 April) evening, Wiyagus also represented the Interior Minister at a Gala Dinner for the 107th Anniversary of Fire Services and Rescue; 76th Anniversary of Civil Service Police; and 64th Anniversary of Community Protection Units. The fire services anniversary commemoration also featured a skills and professionalism competition for firefighters called the National Firefighter Skill Competition (NFSC).
“It is hoped that all apparatus will continue to improve the quality of services so that their existence remains esteemed in the hearts of the public as the frontline guardians of citizen protection,” he said.
Wiyagus also urged fire services, civil service police, and community protection units to remain solid and synergistic with other sectors to create general order and security that supports sustainable economic growth.
“This event serves as a strategic platform to strengthen synergy between central and local governments in line with the President’s directives to support priority programmes towards Golden Indonesia 2045,” he revealed.
