Tangerang Regency (ANTARA) - Deputy Interior Minister Bima Arya believes that the Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, Bekasi, Puncak, Cianjur (Jabodetabekpunjur) agglomeration concept is an important solution to resolving waste and traffic congestion problems in each region.

“The agglomeration concept, if implemented with a sectoral approach, will provide more concrete solutions. Because the authority, financing, and project owner are already clear from the start,” Bima said in Tangerang on Wednesday.

According to him, for years, the two factors of waste and traffic congestion have been very difficult obstacles to overcome, and this has become one of the issues that often troubles regional heads.

“From the many vendor offers with various technologies, the difficulty in finding land, to public rejections,” he said.

Nevertheless, he continued, the government is currently optimising and accelerating the waste-to-electricity energy management development programme (PSEL) and the Local Service Delivery Improvement Project (LSDP).

Bima stated that, besides waste, traffic congestion is also a challenge for every region to resolve.

However, he said, it is important to develop an integrated transportation system in the Jabodetabekpunjur area to improve inter-regional connectivity.

“This is a heavy challenge like traffic congestion, but insyaallah it can be resolved together,” he said.

Regional Waste

Meanwhile, Tangerang Regent Maesyal Rasyid said that in this agglomeration concept, an important aspect that must be addressed is handling waste problems in every region.

“We in the regions must also be able to respond to this agglomeration programme. So first, we hold discussion meetings on governance and inter-regional public service functions,” he said.

Maesyal said that all regions included in Jabodetabekpunjur must be able to respond quickly through inter-sectoral collaboration.

Each adjacent Regency/City is asked to support each other for development in accordance with the determined programmes.

“In line with the President’s policy, that development must be equitable in all villages. People’s economic growth must come from the villages, from ‘bottom-up’ (bottom to top),” he said.
