Deputy Home Minister Urges Adkasi to Form Working Forum for Cross-Regional Issues
Deputy Home Minister Akhmad Wiyagus has requested that the Association of Indonesian District Councils (Adkasi) form a working forum to help address various cross-regional issues as policy input for the central government. “Adkasi must have a working forum that is not only active during events, but becomes a continuous communication space to discuss various cross-regional problems,” Wiyagus said during the Adkasi Regional Coordination Meeting for Kalimantan in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, on Thursday. He stated that the forum could be used to gather various issues faced in different regions, while also compiling more objective policy recommendations based on real regional conditions. “Adkasi holds a strategic position as a platform connecting district councils throughout Indonesia, serving as a means to share experiences, data, and best practices between regions to strengthen the implementation of DPRD functions,” he said. Wiyagus assessed that continuous coordination would accelerate the resolution of various problems with similar characteristics across several regions, while improving the quality of recommendations submitted to the government. He stressed that every recommendation produced must align with regional needs and be implementable according to each area’s characteristics so that they do not merely remain organisational documents. According to him, an organisation’s success is not only measured by the number of forums held, but also by the consistency in executing agreed outcomes through clear and evaluable follow-up actions. Therefore, he requested that every recommendation from Adkasi coordination meetings in each region be incorporated into an action plan with time targets, responsible parties, and success indicators so that the benefits can be felt by the community. He expressed hope that the Adkasi Regional Coordination Meeting for Kalimantan would become a momentum to strengthen a results-oriented work culture through sustainable inter-regional communication and the formulation of more effective policy recommendations for the central government. Meanwhile, Adkasi General Chairman Siswanto said the Kalimantan coordination meeting served as a platform to gather various aspirations and problems faced by district governments, particularly in the Kalimantan region, to be formulated as input for the central government. “One of Adkasi’s hopes through this forum is for the government to listen to regional voices in policy formulation, including strengthening synergy between the central and regional governments to support development,” he said.
