Deputy Home Minister Ribka Haluk Demands Enhanced Healthcare Services at RSUD Yowari Hospital

Deputy Home Minister Ribka Haluk conducted a surprise inspection of healthcare services at RSUD Yowari Hospital in Jayapura Regency, Papua on Friday, 13 March 2026. The visit took place following a meeting with officials from Jayapura Regency’s local government at the Bupati’s office.

During the inspection, Haluk was accompanied by Jayapura Regent Yunus Wonda and Deputy Regent Haris Richard S. Yocku. She examined various hospital facilities and directly monitored the healthcare services provided to the community.

Haluk emphasised that healthcare services constitute a fundamental public need that must be adequately fulfilled. Consequently, the quality of hospital services is expected to continuously improve to ensure the community receives maximum-level care.

“Healthcare services must improve significantly going forward. I have also communicated to the Health Minister to pay serious attention to RSUD Yowari. If no significant changes occur within the coming months, there is a possibility that healthcare services will be taken over entirely,” Haluk stated.

She also urged hospital management to immediately implement various improvements to enhance service quality. She noted that leadership evaluations could be conducted if the hospital proves incapable of delivering tangible improvements.

Haluk stressed that as a public service facility, the hospital is obligated to ensure all residents receive adequate healthcare services without any patient rejection.

“The hope is that this hospital can provide better services to the community. Patient rejections or refusals to serve must cease,” she emphasised.

Through this surprise inspection, Haluk expressed hope that healthcare service quality at RSUD Yowari will continue to improve, enabling residents of Jayapura Regency to access more optimal healthcare services.
