Deputy Home Affairs Minister Urges IPDN Alumni to Uphold Integrity and Professionalism
Sumedang – Deputy Home Affairs Minister (Wamendagri) Akhmad Wiyagus reminded alumni of the Institute of Home Affairs Governance (IPDN) to maintain integrity and professionalism in carrying out their duties as state apparatus. According to him, one violation committed by a public administrator can impact the good name of the entire alumni corps. The message was delivered by Wiyagus while opening the 2026 Extraordinary National Congress (Konaslub) of the Higher Education Alumni Family Association for Public Administration (IKAPTK) at the Rudini Hall, IPDN Jatinangor Campus, Sumedang Regency, West Java, on Saturday, 27 June 2026. Before the alumni, Wiyagus said global challenges such as increasing geopolitical rivalry, supply chain disruptions, and world uncertainty demand that Indonesia have increasingly strong governance. “The true strength of a nation is not solely determined by its foreign policy, but by the robustness of its domestic governance,” he said. Therefore, he assessed that IKAPTK has a role beyond that of a mere alumni organisation. According to him, the public administration alumni network spread across various levels of government can become a strategic force if built upon solidarity and integrity. Wiyagus also asked all alumni to continue maintaining professionalism, the neutrality of the state civil apparatus (ASN), and to support bureaucratic reform and the digital transformation of government. “One public administrator deviating from these integrity values can stain the great name and good name of the IPDN alumni corps,” he said. On the occasion, Wiyagus also conveyed three messages from Home Affairs Minister Muhammad Tito Karnavian to the Konaslub participants. First, all members were asked to maintain organisational unity even if they have different choices in the election of the general chairman. “It is okay to have different choices, but brotherhood must not be fractured,” he said. Second, IKAPTK’s work programme is expected to be able to answer the needs of the times through competency improvement and real contributions to the administration of regional governance. Third, public administration alumni are asked to be role models in loyalty to the state, public service, maintaining unity, and upholding integrity. “Let us make this 2026 IKAPTK Konaslub a momentum to strengthen unity, then also renew our commitment to service, improve competence, and prepare public administration alumni to be able to compete amidst global change,” he said.
