Deputy Home Affairs Minister: TB Eradication Integrated into Regional Planning and Budgeting

Deputy Home Affairs Minister Akhmad Wiyagus has confirmed that tuberculosis (TBC) control is integrated into regional planning and budgeting.

Speaking in Gorontalo on Thursday, he said the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) has affirmed its full support for accelerating TBC control by ensuring the programme becomes part of regional development planning and local government budgeting.

The deputy minister said integrating the TBC control programme into planning documents through to regional budgeting is important to ensure the programme runs sustainably and has adequate resource support.

Kemendagri fully supports the TBC control programme and works together with the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes), particularly to convince local governments that the TBC control programme is included in the Regional Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMD), the Regional Government Work Plan (RKPD), and the Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD).

“All of this represents Kemendagri’s special attention to TBC control,” said Deputy Home Affairs Minister Akhmad Wiyagus.

He said Kemendagri’s support is not only directed at policy aspects, but also at ensuring local governments have the commitment to translate national programmes into regional policies and implementation.

The deputy minister also appreciated the cross-sector collaboration shown by the Gorontalo Provincial Government and Gorontalo Regency in implementing Posyandu with the 6 Minimum Service Standards (SPM).

Kemendagri is also focused on establishing alert villages (desa siaga), as these are at the forefront and important in sub-district interventions.

“The regency is also implementing this in stages, which will accelerate TBC control and subsequently reduce the numbers in Indonesia,” said Deputy Home Affairs Minister Akhmad Wiyagus.
