Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Bima Arya has affirmed that the implementation of the Online Single Submission (OSS) system is intended to accelerate and simplify the business licensing process in Indonesia. However, he also stressed the importance of evaluating the system to prevent adverse social impacts at the local level.
According to Bima, numerous reports have emerged from the regions regarding conflicts on the ground arising from licences being issued online without sufficient communication with surrounding communities. In several cases, licences had already been granted but faced rejection from local residents, triggering tensions in the affected areas.
