Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Bima Arya Sugiarto has urged the youth to continuously improve their personal qualities and capabilities in preparation for Indonesia’s Golden Age 2045. The call comes amid international optimism that Indonesia will become one of the world’s largest economic powers in the future. In this context, a highly skilled workforce is crucial for driving national development and economic growth.

“We are currently experiencing a demographic dividend—where the working-age population exceeds that of the elderly and children—but this advantage is not permanent,” Bima stated in a written release on Sunday (31 May 2026).

He made these remarks during his keynote speech at the Fourth Congress of the Independent Student Political Bloc at the Centre for Human Resource Development (PPSDM) Building of the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) in Bogor Regency, West Java, on Saturday (30 May).

At the event, Bima cautioned students against confusion in shaping their future, stressing that the youth must resolve personal challenges and have clear life goals to maximise their potential.

He further emphasised that the youth’s quality is not solely determined by individual ability but also by concern for their surroundings. Therefore, they must become proactive individuals, sensitive to social issues, and capable of delivering solutions through cross-sector collaboration.

“Remember my words: the future belongs to those skilled in networking and collaboration,” he said.

In addition to fostering collaboration, Bima urged students to strengthen their competencies and broaden global perspectives without losing their Indonesian identity. He stated that the youth must adapt to global developments while preserving national spirit.

On the occasion, Bima also reminded the importance of seizing opportunities for self-development. He noted that success depends not only on one’s abilities but also on the willingness to keep learning, taking action, and capitalising on available opportunities.

“All great figures are those who excel at leveraging momentum. Politicians, scientists, entrepreneurs—all understand the importance of timing,” he concluded.
