Jakarta – Deputy Minister for Hajj and Umrah (Wamenhaj), Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak, has reminded hajj officials to focus on serving hajj pilgrims. Dahnil asked the hajj officials not to show off (flexing) while on duty in the Holy Land. “I hope that the fellow officials focus on their tasks to accompany and protect the pilgrims. So there is no need for all sorts of flexing, showing off activities,” said Dahnil after the roll call for the departure of hajj officials at the Hajj Dormitory in Pondok Gede, Jakarta, on Friday, 17 April 2026. Dahnil advised making this sacred mission a field to seek the pleasure of Allah SWT, through tireless duties and an open heart in delivering pilgrims to achieve their successful pilgrimage. Nevertheless, he still encouraged officials to utilise social media for educational purposes and disseminating beneficial information for the families of pilgrims waiting in the homeland. “But for da’wah, I think we encourage them to do da’wah, meaning to inform, da’wah to educate, even we recommend that all officials conduct education via social media, good news,” he said. “Then ensuring that good and needed information for the pilgrims reaches the pilgrims and their families,” he added. Previously, Dahnil asked the hajj officials who are about to depart to begin the Hajj mission 1447 Hijriah/2026 CE by dedicating themselves fully to serving Indonesian pilgrims. “Dedicate yourselves fully to carrying out duties in the Holy Land. This is a sacred mission, for yourselves, for your families, for the religion,” said Dahnil. In starting the 2026 Hajj mission, around 400 hajj officials will begin departing to the Holy Land on Friday. They will serve as the advance team to ensure the readiness of services to welcome the guests of Allah SWT. The hajj officials who are starting to depart are those assigned to the Madinah Work Area (Daker) and the Airport. Meanwhile, the first batch of hajj pilgrims (Kloter) will begin departing on 22 April 2026.
