Deputy Hajj Minister: Saudi Arabia Guarantees Smooth Hajj This Year
JAKARTA - Indonesia’s Deputy Minister of Hajj, Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak, stated that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s government guarantees the smooth running of the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage despite it occurring amid conflicts.
“Up to today, the Saudi Arabian Kingdom’s government assures that everything is fine. Everything can be controlled, and they guarantee that this year’s Hajj process can run smoothly,” Dahnil said at the Pondok Gede Hajj Dormitory in East Jakarta on Friday (17/4/2026).
Dahnil is confident that all countries currently in conflict understand that Hajj brings a message of peace.
“Hajj truly brings a message of peace, a message of equality, a message of protection for women, a message of not harming, even plants and animals must not be harmed,” said Dahnil.
Amid this conflict-tinged global situation, the government continues to strive for the safety and security of Hajj pilgrims through the role of Hajj Organising Officials (PPIH).
The first flight group of Hajj officials dispatched is dominated by the pilgrim protection team or Linjam.
In addition to Linjam, the dispatched officials also include support personnel such as journalists who will be placed at the airport.
“We are sending (a total of) more than 400 officials in stages, and they must fully serve the pilgrims,” said Dahnil.
Dahnil explained that the presence of the Linjam Team is to support the implementation of contingency plans if emergency conditions arise due to the Middle East conflict.
