Harmony is also embodied in the spirit of children, teenagers, and parents from the nyama selam community during the implementation of the Ketog Semprong Festival.

Denpasar (ANTARA) - Bali’s Deputy Governor I Nyoman Giri Prasta considers the Ketog Semprong Festival, or the ketupat Eid celebration by the Muslim community in Candikuning Village, Tabanan, to be in line with the Province of Bali’s vision.

“The Ketog Semprong Festival aligns with the Nangun Sat Kerthi Loka Bali vision; everything has been accommodated in this event, from Atma Kerthi, Segara Kerthi, Danu Kerthi, Wana Kerthi, Jana Kerthi, to Jagat Kerthi,” said Giri Prasta in a statement from the Bali Provincial Government in Denpasar on Sunday.

Ketog Semprong, derived from Balinese meaning ‘overflowing abundance’, was held at the Bedugul Botanical Garden, where the Muslim community gathered for silaturahmi, communal meals, and cultural preservation activities.

“The values of Nangun Sat Kerthi have been realised as a tradition by the Muslim community, especially in Candikuning Village,” he added.

The name Bedugul in Bali’s largest botanical garden is said to be a combination of ‘bedug’, a traditional Muslim musical instrument, and ‘kulkul’, the traditional Balinese wooden bell.

“The origin of the name Bedugul serves as proof of the harmony that has been established generation after generation in this favourite tourist area,” said Giri Prasta.

Harmony is also embodied in the spirit of children, teenagers, and parents from the nyama selam community during the implementation of the Ketog Semprong Festival.

“In this way, the nyama selam of Candikuning only needs to form a committee, while funding support will be facilitated by the Bali Provincial Government,” he stated.

He advised the Muslim community of Candikuning Village to continue preserving the sustainability and authenticity of the Bedugul tourist area so that it can be passed on to future generations.

As a form of support, Giri Prasta handed over a donation of Rp50 million from his personal funds.

Ariel Dimitri Azkacetta, a prominent figure from the Candikuning Muslim community, added that Ketog Semprong itself is a local wisdom aimed at maintaining harmony through grand silaturahmi.

“In this event, we meet, shake hands, and pray for each other not only among families or residents, but also as a space for meetings between the community and leaders, so that together we can turn promises into reality,” he said.

Furthermore, he explained that Ketog Semprong represents collaboration between the older and younger generations, as well as between the private sector and the government amid the multicultural society in the area.

“This event reflects the spirit of menyama braya between nyama selam and nyama Bali, which is also demonstrated through Balinese arts performances in every event,” he said.

In line with Deputy Governor Giri’s directive, the Muslim figure urged the community to always maintain harmony to support the conducive atmosphere of Bedugul as a flagship tourist destination.

“Moreover, Candikuning is the heart of the Bedugul tourist area; we also hope for proportional attention from the local government,” he concluded.
