An infant girl was found in a nasi uduk cart on Jalan Pejaten Raya, Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta, on Tuesday (3 March 2026). The baby is suspected to have been deliberately abandoned by her family.

Jakarta Deputy Governor Rano Karno said he had received information about the infant, who had been left behind. He has asked the DKI Jakarta Social Service (Dinsos) to promptly provide care for the child.

‘We will be proactive, especially once this is in the media. I’m the first to share this with the relevant agencies to mitigate or anticipate it,’ Rano said at the Jakarta City Hall, Central Jakarta, on Thursday (5 March 2026).

Previously, a baby believed to be about two days old was found in a nasi uduk cart outside a resident’s home on Jalan Pejaten Raya, Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta, on Tuesday afternoon (3 March 2025). The baby was found alive.

Pasar Minggu Police Chief (Kompol) Anggiat Sinambela confirmed the discovery of the baby girl and suggested the infant was deliberately abandoned by family members.

According to several witnesses, the baby girl was found inside a Family Mart shopping bag in the nasi uduk cart. The baby was wearing blue teddy bear-themed clothing and was wrapped in a white baby blanket with a cow cartoon motif.

‘Witnesses also found a number of baby items such as formula, wet wipes, baby gloves, and a note. The note contained a message from a member of the baby’s family,’ Anggiat said.
