Deputy Governor Rano States Four of 14 Train Accident Victims Are Jakarta Residents

Jakarta Deputy Governor Rano Karno on Tuesday (28/4/2026) paid condolences at the home of one of the deceased victims from the train accident at Bekasi Timur Station in Bekasi City, West Java. Rano visited the mourning house located in the Kemayoran area, Central Jakarta. He stated that he had been monitoring information about the train accident that occurred at Bekasi Timur Station on Monday (27/4/2026) night Western Indonesia Time. Rano had also instructed his subordinates to assist with the evacuation process at the incident site. “Last night, I saw the incident in Bekasi on television and immediately ordered Jakarta to help Bekasi that same night. Insha Allah, our BPBD team went to Bekasi, then our PMI also went to Bekasi, even some colleagues from the Fire Department went to Bekasi,” Rano said in the Kemayoran area on Tuesday afternoon Western Indonesia Time. According to him, based on preliminary data, there were 14 fatalities in the incident. Of the total fatalities, four were reported to be Jakarta residents. “So, this also becomes part of our responsibility because based on information from the 14 victims, four of them are Jakarta residents. Although one is a teacher who lives in Cikarang, I didn’t have time to visit her home but the Head of the Department is heading there,” Rano stated. He explained that the DKI Provincial Government would also provide compensation to the families of the train accident victims. According to him, Baznas Bazis Jakarta had already provided compensation to the victims. Not only compensation, Rano said that his side would also assist with handling up to the burial process. “Yes, insha Allah, here there is the Funeral Service (Department of Parks and City Forests), everything has been assisted,” Rano said.
