Deputy Governor Rano opens Jakarta Sehat Meruya Fest in Kembangan
Jakarta Deputy Governor Rano Karno opened the Jakarta Sehat Meruya Fest 2026 in Meruya Utara, Kembangan, West Jakarta, on Saturday.
Deputy Governor Rano expressed appreciation for the enthusiasm of thousands of residents who took part in the healthy walk and the series of festival activities. He said that community togetherness is an important asset for maintaining harmony and peace in the neighbourhood.
“My presence this morning is a form of love and concern for the residents of Meruya. After undergoing a period of health recovery, I have made an effort to come directly to greet the community. The enthusiasm of thousands of residents today shows extraordinary unity and togetherness,” Rano said at the location on Saturday.
The event, organised independently by residents, was part of the celebration of the 81st anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia as well as the 41st anniversary of RW 010.
Deputy Governor Rano urged that this spirit of togetherness continue to be nurtured. He also invited residents to maintain harmony starting from their own neighbourhoods.
“I would like to leave one important message on the occasion of our neighbourhood’s 41st anniversary. Let us together nurture harmony and safeguard Jakarta,” he said.
Meruya Fest is a community-based event that has been held consistently for 11 years since 2015. This non-commercial activity provides a space for residents to build relationships, work together, and strengthen social ties in the neighbourhood.
“The Jakarta Provincial Government greatly appreciates the self-funded initiative of residents who have consistently maintained the tradition of gotong royong and neighbourhood order for more than a decade. This kind of spirit deserves to be an example for other areas,” said Deputy Governor Rano.
Jakarta Sehat Meruya Fest 2026 began with a marching band parade that led thousands of healthy walk participants.
Participants followed the designated route in an orderly manner.
Deputy Governor Rano symbolically released the healthy walk participants by raising the start flag.
In addition to the healthy walk and entertainment, the event featured dozens of stalls run by local micro, small, and medium enterprises (UMKM).
One participant, Rania (31), said she was happy to take part in the event. She hopes that the togetherness and harmony of Meruya residents will continue to be maintained.
“For us, Meruya Fest is not just an annual gathering. This event serves as a platform for building relationships that strengthen harmony among neighbours while also helping to revive small businesses run by local residents,” she said.
