Deputy Governor Rano Karno Confident Jakarta Residents Understand Livestock Waste Management During Eid al-Adha
JAKARTA - Deputy Governor Rano Karno is confident Jakarta residents understand the proper management of livestock waste during Eid al-Adha.
He made the statement when asked about guidance for residents regarding waste management during Eid al-Adha celebrations.
‘Idul Adha is an annual routine activity celebrated by Muslims, and by tradition they already know how to handle it,’ he said during an interview at Jakarta City Hall on Wednesday, 27 May 2026.
‘When observed, holes are dug for slaughtering animals and blood is collected,’ he added.
However, Rano acknowledged the government cannot monitor all the sacrificial animal slaughtering processes in Jakarta due to the large number involved.
This year, the number of sacrificial animals in Jakarta is nearly 68,000.
‘According to our visit to Darmajaya yesterday, the total number of sacrificial animals in Jakarta is nearly 68,000,’ he stated.
He expressed optimism that the sacrificial animal slaughtering process in Jakarta would proceed smoothly as the community is accustomed to it annually.
