Deputy Governor H. Cik Ujang Promotes Sumsel Investment Potential at China–Indonesia Business Forum
In Jakarta, rakyatpembaruan.com reported that Deputy Governor of South Sumatra H. Cik Ujang attended a dinner for the China–Indonesia Political and Business Leaders Exchange DBA Angkatan XII CKGBSP Programme at The Residence ONFIVE, Grand Hyatt Jakarta, on Friday evening, 22 May 2026.
The event served as a networking and discussion forum for political figures, regional officials, and businesspeople from Indonesia and China to strengthen cooperation across sectors.
During the event, Ujang held talks with several Chinese entrepreneurs about investment cooperation opportunities and business development in various Indonesian regions, including South Sumatra.
In remarks to participants, Ujang highlighted South Sumatra’s key strengths, including energy, plantations, culture, and tourism, noting that the province has abundant natural resources and is strategically located to support national economic growth.
He pointed out that commodities such as coal, palm oil, and rubber remain leading sectors with strong prospects for development through investment partnerships with various parties, including foreign investors.
Beyond natural resources, Ujang also introduced plans for developing New Port Tanjung Carat, envisaged as a strategic export port in South Sumatra. The port is expected to enhance logistics connectivity and boost the province’s export competitiveness.
He said that building strategic infrastructure like a port would unlock new investment opportunities and accelerate South Sumatra’s economic growth in the future.
“We will invite them directly to South Sumatra to observe the various potentials,” Ujang said.
Ujang also stressed that the South Sumatra Provincial Government is open to various forms of cooperation that could positively impact regional development and public welfare.
Meanwhile, Shi, Executive Director of Zhenghe Island, expressed interest in the potentials outlined by the provincial government, saying Zhenghe Island sees significant opportunities for investment and business cooperation in South Sumatra. He added that Zhenghe Island plans to schedule a direct visit to South Sumatra to view the potential sites discussed at the forum more closely.
The dinner was also attended by Deputy Minister Veronica Tan, for Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection; Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi; Banten Governor Andra Soni; the head of Dinas PUBM; and the head of the Sumsel Provincial Economic Bureau.
