Deputy Governor Erwan: We Will Fight LGBT in West Java!
West Java Deputy Governor Erwan Setiawan has confirmed that his administration will take firm steps in response to the phenomenon of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) individuals. He will immediately coordinate directly with the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda).
“I have said several times that we, the West Java Provincial Government, are fighting against LGBT in the West Java region,” Deputy Governor Erwan stressed in a statement quoted on Wednesday (15/7/2026).
This was emphasised after attending the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) 2026 at the Pullman Hotel, Bandung City, on Thursday (9/7).
Firm action will also be taken if any State Civil Apparatus (ASN) within the West Java Provincial Government is proven to be LGBT. Erwan stressed that strict sanctions will be imposed in accordance with the prevailing laws and regulations.
“If it is in accordance with the legislation, the most severe sanction is dismissal. And if there are any criminal acts, we will hand them over to law enforcement officials,” he stressed.
Erwan also called on the wider community to play an active role. He asked residents not to hesitate to report suspected legal violations in their surroundings to the authorities so they can be processed immediately.
“I hope the public will provide accurate reports, both to the police and to us, so that we can immediately take steps according to our authority,” said Erwan.
