South Sumatra Deputy Governor H. Cik Ujang leveraged a China–Indonesia Political and Business Leaders Exchange forum under the DBA Programme Cohort XII CKGBSP to promote various investment opportunities in South Sumatra to Chinese business entrepreneurs.

The activity, organised as a dinner reception, took place at The Residence ONFIVE, Hotel Grand Hyatt Jakarta, on Friday evening (22 May 2026), and was attended by numerous political figures, regional leaders, and business players from both Indonesia and China.

At the forum, Cik Ujang engaged in direct dialogue with several Chinese entrepreneurs regarding collaboration and business development opportunities across various strategic sectors in South Sumatra.

He communicated that South Sumatra possesses significant potential in the energy, plantation, culture, and tourism sectors that can be developed through collaboration with foreign investors.

Cik Ujang explained that flagship commodities such as coal, palm oil, and rubber remain the primary strengths of South Sumatra’s economy and hold promising prospects for long-term investment development.

Additionally, he introduced plans for the New Port Tanjung Carat development project, being prepared as a strategic export port in South Sumatra. According to him, this port development will strengthen the logistics system and support increased regional export activity.

He added that strategic infrastructure development is one of the crucial steps in creating a better investment climate and accelerating regional economic growth.

“We will later invite them directly to South Sumatra to see the various potential that exists,” said Cik Ujang.

According to him, the South Sumatra Provincial Government continues to open cooperation opportunities with various parties to support regional development and enhance community welfare.

Executive Director of Zhenghe Island, Mr. Shi, responded positively to the presentation delivered by the South Sumatra Provincial Government. He stated he was interested in the various potential that South Sumatra possesses and planned to schedule a direct visit to the region.

The visit is expected to open opportunities for more concrete cooperation between Chinese investors and the South Sumatra Provincial Government.

Also present at the event were Deputy Minister of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection Veronica Tan, Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi, Banten Governor Andra Soni, Head of the PUBM Department, and Head of the South Sumatra Provincial Economic Bureau.
