Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Foreign Minister (Wamenlu) Arif Havas Oegroseno has urged global businesspeople to first contact the Republic of Indonesia’s embassies if they encounter obstacles in investing in the country.

The statement was delivered by Deputy Foreign Minister Havas at the International Seminar on Debottlenecking Channel at the Ministry of Finance office in Jakarta on Tuesday, attended by ambassadors from friendly nations and global businesspeople.

“If there are issues that need to be resolved. The bottlenecks mentioned by the Minister (of Finance) earlier, they should be reported to our embassies. Then we will liaise with their embassies here,” he said when asked about the ministry’s role in resolving investment obstacles.

Deputy Foreign Minister Havas explained that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through its various representatives abroad, is tasked with bridging the interests of foreign investors with the Indonesian government. Therefore, ideally, foreigners should contact Indonesian embassies first.

“They can contact our embassies first, consult with them. And then find partners, collaborators, and clear regulations from Indonesia,” he said.

Furthermore, Havas conveyed that the Indonesian government, through the Ministry of Finance, has formed a Task Force Debottlenecking to resolve investment issues that hinder economic activities.

The working group is prepared as an official channel for business actors to report real obstacles in the field, which will be addressed through periodic debottlenecking sessions.

“So it’s easier to input data. When, where the problem is. So that the Foreign Ministry can also monitor the developments and help foreign investors push for quicker resolution of the issues,” Havas added.

Present at the same occasion, Finance Minister Purbaya Sadewa added that synergy with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is necessary to overcome investment obstacles, including disseminating the Task Force Debottlenecking website.

“Cooperation with the Foreign Ministry is indeed very important to spread this to ambassadors around the world, so that investors wanting to enter here know where to go if they face obstacles. The impact will be very significant,” said Purbaya.
