JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has confirmed that there will be no restrictions on fuel oil (BBM) purchases for the public during the 2026 Eid holiday period. Deputy Minister of ESDM Yuliot Tanjung stated that this policy applies at both central and regional government levels. Consequently, the public can purchase BBM according to their needs. Yuliot emphasised that the public need not worry about fuel availability ahead of Eid. Currently, national fuel reserves are around 27 to 28 days, deemed sufficient to meet demand. This situation also indicates that energy supplies, for both transportation and electricity needs, remain at a safe level. He also urged the public not to engage in excessive or panic buying. Yuliot asked the public to remain orderly when refuelling at public fuel stations (SPBU), especially if queues form. “So, for those queuing at SPBU, please be patient, and avoid any disturbances. We will certainly serve as quickly as possible,” he said. According to Yuliot, the government is continuously working to maintain energy supply stability across Indonesia, particularly during periods of increased demand such as ahead of Idul Fitri. “We hope that BBM availability for the public can be fulfilled from Sabang to Merauke, for those celebrating Idul Fitri. We are working hard to ensure energy availability,” he concluded.
